Inspiration from the Work of Others

Once I had come up with my basic idea, I remembered a piece of animation that I had previously studied that I feel is relevant to my idea.

The Hand by Jiri Trnka Ruka is a piece of stop motion animation from 1965.

Although I plan to use 2D vector based computer animation combined with video, rather than stop motion, I feel that this existing piece of animation uses similar themes to those which I would like to use. 
I also really like the power that the hand in this animation has, and he way it interacts with the character.
